Owen Tree arborist wins award

Our congratulations go out to Kay Sicheneder, our consulting arborist, on receiving the 2017 Arboriculture Society of Michigan (ASM) Honors Award. The Honors Award is given to one arborist each year for their “dedicated, faithful and honorable service to arboriculture and urban forestry”.

In addition to her tree consulting, tree valuation work, court room expert testimony and tree surveying work, Kay gives back to the tree care industry in several ways. Throughout her career Kay has served on state and national tree industry boards and committees. She currently is on the ASM Education Committee. To raise money for tree research, Kay has ridden hundreds of miles in the Tours de Trees fundraiser. She also enjoys leading training sessions for Michigan arborists, improving their skills in pruning, plant health care, and tree risk assessment.

The award was presented with almost 400 of her fellow arborists at the annual ASM Convention in Lansing. Kay was humbled and thankful for this award, but as she said upon its presentation, “I feel so privileged to speak for the trees.”
