Our Story

Owen Tree Service has been in business since 1985 providing residential tree care, municipal tree care and commercial tree care services. The mission of Owen Tree Service is to provide innovative, practical, top-quality tree care services and tree care products that set the standard for the tree care industry to follow. Randy Owen, the president of Owen Tree Service, is well known and highly regarded by reputable national and state tree care associations. Randy is a past Chairman for the Board of Directors for the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and was also past president of the Michigan Forestry and Parks Association (MFPA). He has played a leading role in the development of many of the tree care standards required and practiced today for tree care companies.

Randy Owen

President, ISA Certified Arborist

Randy Owen is the Company President of Owen Tree Service. Randy is the past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), and also is past president of the Michigan Forestry and Parks Association (MFPA).

When he’s not working with lawn and tree care associations Randy enjoys spending time with family and friends.

David Scott

General Manager; ISA Certified Arborist

David is an ISA Certified Arborist with more than 24 years of tree, shrub and lawn care maintenance experience. In his time at Owen Tree David has held several positions, including Lawn Care Technician, Plant Health Care Technician and Sales Arborist. He is a graduate of the Horticulture & Landscape design curriculum at Oakland Community College.

David has been married to his wife Nancy for over 20 years and is an Elder at his church. In his spare time he enjoys cross country skiing, hockey, soccer and curling.

Tom Morgan

Sales Manager, ISA Certified Arborist

Tom is an ISA Certified Arborist and has been in the lawn care and tree care industry for 40 years. Tom has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Michigan Technological University.

Tom regularly  attends lawn care and tree care seminars to remain updated on changes in the industry and enjoys landscaping, outdoor recreation and curling.

Trisha Boyd

ISA Certified Arborist

Trish has over 20 years of experience working in the tree and lawn care industry. At Owen Tree Service Trish spent 12 years in the Plant Health Care department treating trees and shrubs for insect and  disease pests. Trish believes it’s important that recommendations for the proper maintenance of your  landscape come from both a science and experience-based perspective.

Trish enjoys gardening, morel mushroom hunting, walking in the woods and spending time with family. She has been with her husband, Scott, for more than 25 years and has two children and two grandchildren.

Brad Dunkin

ISA Certified Arborist; CTSP

Brad has been in the tree and lawn care industry since 2002. Brad is an ISA Certified Arborist, Ontario Utility Arborist, a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) and a former Michigan Master Gardener.

Brad likes keeping trees and lawns healthy, meeting new people everyday, and competing in  swimming, mountain biking races and curling.

Dave Kidd

ISA Certified Arborist

Dave has been in the tree and lawn care industry since 1980. Before becoming an ISA Certified Arborist  Dave worked as a plant health care specialist and commercial & residential landscape supervisor.

Dave was among the first arborists in Michigan to receive the Michigan Oak Wilt Qualified certification.

Tim Lindley, ISA Certified Arborist

Tim Lindley

ISA Certified Arborist

Tim is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist with over 19 years of specialized experience in tree, shrub and turf health management. Tim enjoys using his analytical skills to eliminate or reduce plant stressors such as insect or disease pests, nutrient deficiencies or abiotic stress / damage. He is passionate about educating property owners on tree preservation best practices, shrub care and lawn maintenance.

Treatment plans may include any combination of traditional insect / disease control products, biorational treatments, soil health optimization, or improved cultural practices.

Pruning recommendations / techniques offered will adhere to ISA standards to mitigate risk and / or improve plant health and longevity. While he prefers to save trees, when hazardous trees are on a property, sometimes tree removal is the best course of action.

Tim and his wife, Jewelianne, were married at the Roosertail in Detroit in 2014. They have five children together, along with a parrot, two geckos and two axolotls’. Hopefully, soon, they will have a dog, too!

In his free time Tim enjoys wilderness exploration through family camping trips and tending to his flock of 26 chickens. He also continues his horticultural endeavors at home by growing fruits and vegetables in his garden.

David Evans

ISA Board Certified Master Arborist

David is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist who has been in the green industry for over 35 years. David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Turfgrass Management from Penn State University as well as an  Associates Degree in Horticulture from Oakland Community College where he was employed as an Adjunct Instructor in the Landscape Horticulture Program.

David has been married to his wife, Jessica, for 25 years and in his free time he enjoys outdoor activities with his two sons and spending time with family and friends

Keith Gilley

Arborist

Keith has more than 24 years of experience in the tree care industry, where he has built a strong reputation for safety, precision, and professionalism. As a Certified Line Clearance Tree Trimmer, Keith specialized in utility trimming and tree removals, ensuring that vegetation near power lines was managed responsibly and efficiently. His deep understanding of tree biology, equipment operation, and safety standards allowed him to approach every project with confidence and care, helping to maintain both public safety and environmental health.

Over the years, Keith has developed a keen eye for identifying potential hazards and implementing proactive solutions that protect property and infrastructure. He takes great pride in mentoring newer team members and sharing the knowledge he’s gained from decades in the field.

When he’s not on the job, Keith enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking through the woods, tending to his garden, or simply appreciating the natural world he works so hard to preserve.

Robert Davidson

ISA Certified Arborist

Robert Davidson is a dedicated professional in the field of arboriculture, bringing over a decade of experience to his role as Arborist Representative at Owen Tree Service. With a strong foundation in plant health care and hands-on experience working on our tree crews, Robert's journey in the green industry has been marked by continuous growth and achievement.

Having joined Owen Tree Service in 2015, Robert quickly established himself as a valuable team member. His commitment to excellence and passion for arboriculture led to a recent promotion to the position of Arborist Representative, a role where he can leverage his extensive knowledge and skills to benefit clients.

Robert Davidson holds the prestigious ISA Certified Arborist credential, showcasing his expertise in the care and maintenance of trees. His journey in the green industry aligns with a commitment to professional development and education. While previously contributing to the plant health care department and working with our tree crews, Robert has honed his skills to become a trusted advisor in arboriculture. In addition to his practical experience, Robert has demonstrated a commitment to academic achievement in the arboriculture field.




Ryan Crosby

ISA Certified Arborist

Ryan Crosby was born in Pontiac and lived in Waterford until the age of 11. It was the Northern Michigan pine forests where his love of nature truly began at the family cabin.

Ryan started with Owen Tree Service as a Plant Healthcare Technician in 2015. As a PHC Tech, he would help diagnose and treat tree, shrub and landscape issues hands on.
As an ISA Certified Arborist, he brings that previous experience to his current role within the company today. Ryan enjoys combining what he has learned in the field and gives honest, practical, and educational advice to help clients make the best decisions to keep their landscape healthy and beautiful. 

When not working you can find him enjoying all that nature has to offer - in any season. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as rustic camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, etc. Ryan is a proud Husband, Father, and "Pop Pop". He most values spending quality time making memories with his amazing family and friends.
