Owen Tree Service Maintains Its TCIA Accreditation
| Oct 01, 2026
Owen Tree Service has been a TCIA Accredited tree service since 2004
Owen Tree Service is proud to announce that we have been re-accredited by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) following a comprehensive audit of our company’s operations and practices. As the first company in the country to be accredited by the TCIA, we have held this certification since 2004.
TCIA Accreditation is a significant achievement in the tree care industry. It demonstrates a company’s ongoing commitment to professionalism, safety, employee training, customer satisfaction, ethical business practices, and compliance with applicable regulations.
What Is the Tree Care Industry Association?
Founded in 1938, the Tree Care Industry Association is a professional trade organization representing thousands of commercial tree care companies and affiliated businesses throughout North America.
TCIA works to promote professionalism and safety within the tree care industry by providing education, training, standards, and resources for tree care professionals. The organization also helps property owners identify companies that follow established industry best practices.
What Does TCIA Accreditation Mean?
TCIA Accreditation is a voluntary professional credential for tree care companies. Similar to other industry certification and quality-assurance programs, such as the ISO 9000 series of certifications, the accreditation process requires companies to meet a detailed set of tree care industry standards.
Accredited companies are evaluated in areas such as:
• Ethical business practices
• Customer service and satisfaction
• Employee training and professional development
• Workplace safety
• Proper business procedures
• Compliance with federal and state regulations
• Quality-control practices
• Crew operations and job-site performance
Accredited companies must also complete an extensive third-party audit every three years. The audit includes a review of company records, verification of required standards, and observation of tree care crews working in the field.
Although there are tens of thousands of tree care companies operating throughout the United States, only about 200 have earned TCIA Accreditation. Maintaining this credential reflects the time, effort, and ongoing commitment required to meet the association’s standards.
What Does This Mean for Property Owners?
Trees are an important part of any residential or commercial property. Well-maintained trees and landscapes improve curb appeal, contribute to property value, provide environmental benefits, and can even help reduce energy costs.
However, tree work can also be dangerous and technically complex. Choosing a qualified tree care company is essential for protecting your property, your trees, and the people around them.
When you work with a TCIA-accredited company, you can feel more confident that the contractor has been evaluated according to recognized industry standards. Accreditation provides an added level of assurance that the company is committed to:
• Safe work practices
• Proper employee training
• Professional tree care
• Responsible business operations
• Customer satisfaction
• Compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
For Owen Tree Service, re-accreditation is more than a credential. It represents our continued dedication to doing the job correctly, safely, and professionally - from the initial consultation through the completion of every project.
TCIA Accreditation Recognized by Leading Organizations
TCIA Accreditation is recognized and recommended by a variety of municipalities, public agencies, and professional organizations. In some cases, accreditation is specifically referenced in bid specifications or contractor recommendations.
Organizations that have cited TCIA Accreditation include:
• Central Park Conservancy, NY, NY
• City of Chicago, IL
• City of Fort Worth, TX

• City of Naperville, IL
• City of Warren, MI

• New York City Parks Department, NY
